Only the good die young. Never was this more true than with you, my dear friend, Atiewe. Never have I known a more humble, kinder, generous soul than you. Despite the many hardships that you faced, the incredible obstacles that you had to overcome, you were always ready to lend a hand, to all who needed help. Your gentle manner touched all who knew you. So much you taught me through our friendship.
Why you who deserved happiness more than anyone I know, should have been so struck by so much tragedy, I will never know. Yet, not once did you show any signs of bitterness through it all. You taught me so much. You will be deeply missed, my dear friend Attie Chere. I mourn your passing.
May you rest in peace, beloved son of Africa, until we meet again.

"Learn from the Hornbill, the bird of
unconquerable hope – no matter how badly the drought, no matter how desperate the famine, the Hornbill always holds its
head high, its beak pointed towards a
better tomorrow – be ever
like a Hornbill my child"
